Die of the year poll winners announced

In the running, of course, was fan favourite d4, more lethal than Lego in the long-pile carpet, but utimately pretty unsatisfying in its arerobatics. This year it gets an honourable mention.

Runner up is the d20; good balance of being readable and providing a range of numbers, which d10 ultimately has to pair up to provide. d20’s ability to escape, however, counted against it.

Winner is the d6; historical legacy – Ave, Romanes – and flexibility in and out of teams; packable and portable, and even available with rounded edges for safe gastric passthrough, making them useful for the under-six Snakes and Ladders league, while sharp corners are available to make them precisely unrandom.

You’ll join with us in congratulating the d6, and if you’d like to get your hands on this year’s edition it’s now available with a funky ’36’ event design at our merch store https://iga.ie/product/gaelcon-d6/ for collection at the con.

Event stickers and Badges are also available, and ready for the con. Some say, they’re just the thing to trick out the laptop in corporate-drudgery land. Bring one home to spread the word.

Our T-Shirt orders close on Sept 23rd; if your order is not in by then we cannot guarantee your fit. https://iga.ie/product/gaelcon-t-shirt/

These are a hefty cost to carry for the org, so supplies at the con will be limited.

Merch-adjacent, but we know you’re not in it for the merch:

Our volunteer form is here.

Stick your name in there, it’s something we really need for ’36.

This year, we’d like to ask people to consider – on top of volunteering with the con – to become involved in its organisation and funding efforts, via the IGA. That way, you get the warm fuzzies, potentially transferrable skills and mentoring, and some great contacts, LinkedIn endorsements etc. This is particularly an option for non-Dublin members, who can contribute remotely effectively now that we’re all allergic to in-person meetings.

Also, the gang involved are all dotes, and the work gets done. Think about it; the IGA AGM is on the Monday.

Lastly: If you’re a community gaming group and would like an Ad in the Gaelcon brochure – and/or promotion via the IGA through the year – the contact form for this is here.

We’re in this together; together stronger, etc. Do forward this to anybody you know who might benefit from the boost.
