Boardgame Events
In association with Dublin Gaymers, Gaelcon is running a full schedule of boardgames with facilitated games, demos and teams teaching boardgames. This page shows games on the official boardgames schedule, with a pre-booked table that the Gaelcon boardgame team manages for player bookings. To indicate an interest in any of these games please comment on the Board Game Geek List of Gaelcon Boardgames Meetups and we will soft-reserve you a place. You must register for the Con and we will keep the place for you up to 15 minutes before the game. However, full bookings of places are made by contacting the physical boardgames table at Gaelcon to reserve your place (this can be done any time during the Con up to 15 minutess before the game is due to start, but it is best to come to us as early as possible). All other places will be reserved at the Con on a first-come, first-served basis. 15 minutes before the game if players have not registered it will be opened to the waiting list and then to anyone else in the boardgames room.
The boardgames room (room 18, 1st floor) is open 6pm -1am Friday, 9.30am to 1am Saturday and Sunday and 9.30am to 5pm Monday. Additional free play tables are available in the main hall and some scheduled games are down there.
The Gaslands demo table in the main hall Saturday and Sunday will run games on demand throughout the weekend as long as there are sufficient players.
Free play tables (for people to play their own or library games), a board games library (free to use but with deposit required) and board games trainers are also available at the event. Come to the board games room on the first floor (room 18) to visit the boardgames desk. If you want to advertise possible games for free-play tables just add the game to the Gaelcon Boardgames Meetups BGG list or talk to our boardgames team to find additional players for you.
Boardgames at Gaelcon 2023 are sponsored by GMT Games and David Kershaw’s game Irish Freedom
Boardgames kiosks: On each boardgames table at Gaelcon you will see a small folded stand in Red, Orange or Green. This allows players to advertise if they want extra players and are willing to teach (Green), or if they want extra players who are experienced (Orange), or if they need someone to teach them the rules (Red):

If you want to volunteer for Gaelcon and help run the event, use this form.
You can see the boardgames schedule here. If insufficient players sign up for a game then it will be cancelled so please register early to avoid this. Note that most of our games are run by volunteer facilitators who are giving up their time to run and teach the game. Unfortunately sometimes life intervenes and the game cannot go ahead.
