Back from AthVentureCon

Three Gaelcon 2025 Committee members made the trip to Lough Rea last weekend to join in the fun at Athventure Con III. Wow! We had a great time. The venue, speakers, events games and organisation were excellent.

Thanks for all the hard work, Athenry Adventurers RPG Youth Club.

There was a packed schedule of games (nearly 100), with a big focus on RPGs (or TTRPGs if you prefer). It was really interesting to see innovative approaches to organising the event and wow what a great sea of young people playing and attending.

Truly, the next generation have embraced this hobby and especially this event. I particularly liked the big board of games running in the current slot that you could just walk up to and see what games had seats, ask to be added and walk straight over to your table. There was also a busy trade hall with lots of vendors of geeky stuff.

The venue hotel was nice and the staff managed to keep everything clean and friendly despite the large numbers of attendees. I am not sure how much bigger the event can grow in the current venue, which may be an issue as I think they have about 30% growth a year.

Put it in your calendar for next year.

Hopefully we can look forward to some AthVenture Con staff and friends attending Gaelcon too. Hearthfire Tales were already there last year.

We had a great time, welcoming, lots of fun. Will be back. Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces at future cons.
