The Gaelcon Archive

Amazing as it may seem, there have been no less than 35 Gaelcons to date! The first took place last century, all the way back in 1989, in the RDS Industries Hall. Since then, we have changed venue (ten times!), been on the southside (21 times), the northside (11 times), the westside (once), and we have also been virtual only (twice – thanks, Covid Pandemic!). We have had 27 different convention directors (depending on how you count them!), rolled 2,245,721 dice, and raised quite a lot of money for Irish children’s charities, including CanTeen Ireland, BeLonG To, Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland, DEBRA Ireland, and many more.

An archive, very similar in appearance to the Gaelcon Archive.

Rather than see all of that lost to the mists of time, we intend to publish an archive of Gaelcons past, listing all the things that are fit to print, and ideally posting up some of your and our old photos and memorabilia, too. We’ll be adding pages, photos and years, as time and memories allow.

If you have anything you’d like to contribute to the archive, or if you can help to fill in gaps in our collective memories, then we’d love to hear from you! Please email us at archive@iga.ie!
