Charity Announcement

We are delighted to announce that we will be adding Autism Assistance Dogs as one of our Charities at the IGA Charity Auction in 2023.

Autism Assistance Dogs provide assistance dogs for diagnosed autistic children aged between 5 and 12 years old who engage in flight or other risky behaviours. These assistance dogs are service dogs that are trained to provide safety and to support the child with autism to overcome the distressing elements of their disability and to live the life that they deserve. The Training is provided by Autism Assistance Dogs and any dogs that do not successfully complete the training can become buddy dogs for Autistic Children.

Autism Assistance Dogs rely solely on donations from the public and have received no government funding.

To find out more information on Autism Assistance Dogs you can find their website here: https://www.autismassistancedogsireland.ie/governance

This year IGA pledge to donate 60% of the money raised in this year’s auction to BeLongTo and 40% to Autism Assistance Dogs, up to a total of €15,000 combined. Anything raised above €15,000 will be kept in a fund for any charities that might be approved during the year that could benefit from emergency funds.

If you would like to nominate a charity to the IGA please email charity@gaelcon.com with the name of the charity, outlining what they do and the reasons for nominating the charity. Any nominations will be brought to the IGA Executive Committee for discussion and then to the general IGA membership for further discussion and final approval

Appropriate charities shall be those deemed to improve the quality of life for disabled, ill or disadvantaged children.

This year the IGA Charity Auction will be held on Sunday, 29th October 2023 and will be hosted by Brian Nisbet
